Thursday. New York City was rocked by a scandal not seen since the the days of the "family" when DEA agent Norman Stansfield announced in a press conference that the Drug Enforcement Agency had ceased a potentially large collection of pharmacutical drugs that had been tampered with and were in the process of arresting and arraigning the culprits.
Stansfield, a decorated member of the Agency, addressed a crowd at city hall earlier today, "We have reason to believe that these people were acting to destabalize the population. Over ten million Americans are currently prescribed Phenobarten. To tamper with these drugs would have caused a panic similar to the tylenol tampering that occured during the early eighties-it is a miracle and I know that I for one will feel much safer."
Phenobarten, a known anti-depressant, can cause irrationality and moodswings in individuals who take above the theraputic dose. It is believed that the criminals responsible attempted to alter the drug at it's creation, thereby increasing the amount individuals would take. Phenobarten is also used to treat individuals with mental abilities, assisting those without proper training and psychic ability.
When asked if these were anti-mutant activists attempting to affect the sway of mutant politics, Agent Stansfield refused comment, "This is a heinous crime that required resolution. We have a suspect in custody and will be releasing a statement in regards to the investigation shortly. This- is only the tip of the iceberg."
As a precaution, the DEA and FDA are issuing a recall of the drug Phenobarten and asking that anyone using it speak to their physician about being treated with Methoketen, a known substitute.
Methoketen has earned some criticism in circles for being highly addictive. Individuals must maintain a strict regime and have a physician supervising their taking of the drug.
"Rest assured" Agent Stansfield said, "We are working to get Phenobarten back on the market as quickly as possible. I am dedicated to the American people and I have a vested interest in those who need this drug being able to recieve the treatment they need."

OCCUPATION: Agent for the Drug Enforcement Agency. (which is something he'd say) Government Boob, Drug Kingpin and general psychotic SOB.
BACKGROUND: Norman Stansfield would be counted normal if he didn't manifest his ability at the tender age of 10 to a father who beat him senseless and a mother who'd become a first-class makeup artist to hide her husband's bruises. Norman was weird and weird to Frank Stansfield translated to queer and no kid of his was going to be a sissy.
To spite him (rather then emerging stronger) Norman resolved to obey the law of the letter if not the spirit. He did very well in school, rose up through the ranks, and joined a government agency. He also lost his virginity at fifteen, fucked boys in addition to girls, and did drugs.
He didn't use. He just experimented. Doing weed enhanced his ability (so he thought.) So doing stronger stuff made it better right?
He joined the DEA, married a woman who he never sees, and spawned two kids who he shipped off to a Bronx boarding school. They're boys. Or girls. Or maybe a boy and a girl. He doesn't remember. Every thursday night daddy's home and his trophy wife and trophy kids can celebrate. As long as he sends checks, Stan has discovered his wife doesn't much care and that suits him fine.
Besides, having a wife is just the right sort of cover to being a personal friend of Frank D'Amico. He's spying on that man for the DEA and spying on the DEA for that guy and what started out as a legitamate undercover assignment (It was, he remembers that. It was.) besides. Frank got him into coke (Just try it) and if a guy like Frank D'Amico can handle that shit why can't he?

there are people at the agency, at shield, and at other places who remember when he was a rising star on the taskforce for the war at home. Now they prefer to forget he exists.

Frank and Stan were friends. Frank helped Stan out with a problem involving a hitman and his little mutant daughter...girlfriend...thing who tried to blow up the entire fucking building. Fuck you very much if DEA Agent Stansfield didn't manage to pin the whole thing on the guy. And his little mutant kid-though by that time she was in the wind. Technically, after Frank exploded he thought she was back, but she'd be in her twenties by now...
He's hung his medal on his wall and gone looking for Chris as a favor to his dad..
